Kids!

In the spirit of Mother’s Day I thought I would blog about my kids.

Mallory is my helper. She is always looking for ways to help me out, whether it is picking up the house or playing with the baby while I get in the shower. She is such a sweetheart. She also is very type ‘A’. She has a schedule and she has to follow it. Like me she is not a morning person and it has been very hard for her to get up at 6:30 am to make the school bus by 7:15. Every morning she wakes up makes her bed then comes down and eats breakfast, gets dressed ect. If the morning routine changes tears are almost always the immediate results. Mallies is very smart. She is finishing Kindergarten this year and is reading above grade level. I love how excited she gets about learning. She also is always concerned about others feelings. She is the first to sits with the new kid at church or on the bus. I am blessed to have her in my life.

Drew is my adventurist. He keeps me on my toes. He is always asking how things work, and why. He always is asking questions. Sometimes I don’t have the answer and his reply is “Mom you are smart you should know how this works.” He is very smart. I catch him all the time sounding out words or reading stories to Porter. He also is a problem solver. Ben mentioned a couple of weeks ago that one of the play stations remotes was sticky, so Drew being a problem solver decided to wash it in the sink. Needless to say the remote does not work anymore. He also is a very hard worker. Without being asked he will sweep out the garage or shovel snow. He loves opening my door and always says, “Yes my lady” He is a great kid and I am glad I am his mom.

Porter is my little cuddle bug. He loves snuggles and playing with my hair. He does not crawl. His mobility is the bum scoot. It is so funny to watch him. I love the way his face lights up when I enter the room. He is the only one of my kids that said Mom, before Dad. He loves blowing kisses and throwing food. Even when he keeps me up all night I still love him.

Mother is the best title I have ever had. I got asked last week if I missed working and having a career. My response was “NO.” Motherhood is the most rewarding career out there. I love waiting for them to come home from school, or listening to the read, or having them squeeze my finger with their chubby little hands. It is way better than any paycheck I have ever received. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has entrusted me with these special three spirits that call me “Mom”.
